Application of zinc sulfate and boric acid in the rice field.

The rice fields are usually deficient in zinc and boron due to frequent cultivation. The roots of the plants remain small and stains appear on the lower leaves within a month of transplanting the seedlings. Plants have difficulty in obtaining other nutrients and crop production is also affected. Therefore, it is as important to apply zinc sulfate in the fields as the application of nitrogen or phosphorus. If zinc sulfate fertilizer has not been applied in the nursery, then apply zinc sulfate (33%) 5 to 10 kg per acre and 1- 2 kg boric acid per acre within 2-3 weeks of transplanting for a good yield.
