Drip Irrigation system is suitable for areas with water scarcity and barren lands

Drip irrigation is a type of micro-irrigation system that has the potential to save water and nutrients by allowing water to drip slowly to the roots of plants, either from above the soil surface or buried below the surface. For areas with water scarcity and barren lands, drip irrigation is more suitable, as it saves water and fertilizer and hence cost can be reduced. It is the most efficient water and nutrient delivery system for growing crops as it places water and nutrients directly into the root zone and minimize evaporation.
Essential nutrients can be applied directly resulting in better uptake by the plants, thus fertilizer usage can be optimized. Drip irrigation enables application of water-soluble fertilizers through water to the root zone uniformly to all the plants and hence fertilizer can be given at any stage as per the requirement of the crop. Compared to the conventional irrigation systems, drip irrigation is best for obtaining a healthy crop.
