Farmers should be careful about the selection of seeds for the cultivation of sugarcane. The sowing of the sugarcane should be done through three or four buds cut off from the cane. Only good seeds can give a good yield, therefore the seeds should always be selected from healthy, disease-free and pest-free crops. While preparing seeds, the diseased and the weak cane be sorted out and the seeds should never be kept from such fields. It is better to use the top of the cane for the seed.Do not select the seeds from fallen crop, the sugarcane should not be peeled off with cracks or splinters, but it should be removed by hand. While there should be no cover of green leaves on the buds otherwise the yield will be low and there will be a risk of infection. To prevent the seed from drying, it should be sprayed with water periodically. Soak the seeds in fungicide solution for 3-5 minutes before sowing.
